Yutong Liu is an XR developer, robotics researcher, and educator at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). She works in the Multimedia & Immersive Technologies (MIT) department within Information Technology Services (ITS) and leads the xREAL Lab and Motion Capture Studio, where she develops projects spanning virtual reality, motion capture, digital humans, robotics, and embodied AI.
Her background bridges immersive technology, computer science, and hands-on robotics. Her recent work focuses on humanoid robots, particularly exploring how motion capture, simulation, robot control, and multimodal data collection can support embodied AI research and education. She has worked with platforms including the Unitree G1 humanoid robot, Go2 quadruped, Mobile ALOHA, and Qualisys motion capture systems.
She is currently developing Lucky Engine, a game-engine-based workflow for robot control, interaction, and data recording. Her goal is to make humanoid robotics more accessible to students and researchers by creating practical environments where people can control robots, interact with virtual and physical tasks, and collect structured multimodal robotics data.
Her broader interests include embodied AI, human-robot interaction, robot learning, motion retargeting, immersive learning, and practical robotics education.
