Hadia is a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, in the joint doctoral program between UC San Diego and San Diego State University. Her research focuses on the graphitization kinetics of amorphous carbon, using ReaxFF molecular dynamics simulations in LAMMPS to understand how atomic-scale structural transformations drive macroscopic material behavior.
As a CIP Fellow at the San Diego Supercomputer Center, Hadia has focused on optimizing large-scale LAMMPS simulations on Expanse. Her work includes benchmarking CPU and GPU-based simulation strategies across a range of system sizes to identify the most efficient computational workflows, with findings now informing her broader PhD simulation pipeline.
Through this fellowship, Hadia has developed a growing interest in the infrastructure behind large-scale scientific computing, and hopes to continue exploring how HPC resources can make computational research more accessible and reproducible
