Abstract

I created the Summer Research Program in AI/ML for undergraduate STEM majors interested in learning more about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The program offers students the chance to work on eight research projects I developed, including topics like cancer detection from images, identifying academically at-risk students, support systems, AI overfitting, AI bias, AI explainability, AI scalability, AI adversarial attacks, and the recently added ‘AI for Everyone’ online course. I worked with our campus student research office to announce the program, which led to five faculty members and eight student research assistants joining the projects. The program is ongoing, with separate weekly meetings for faculty and students.
